Phuket

Your choice of base shapes the trip—from lively Patong to quieter beach areas.

The feel of the place

A beach trip with nightlife, town heritage and a choice of resort areas.

Phuket offers a choice of beach bases, including Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala and Mai Khao. Phuket Town adds Chinese shrines, local dining and historic architecture, while viewpoints and water activities broaden the trip. Choose your stay area carefully: busy resort centres and quieter stretches offer very different holidays.

Keep in mind

Beach-hopping and trips to Phuket Town usually need transport. Staying near Patong’s nightlife brings more bustle; quieter bases put you farther from the main nightlife scene.

How to read the scale
Scores describe how strongly a destination offers each characteristic. They are editorial assessments, not visitor ratings.

Higher does not always mean better
A higher nightlife score means a livelier scene. A higher quietness score means a calmer atmosphere. The right balance depends on your trip.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.

Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
