Northern Thailand · city
Nan
A compact cultural base for temples, northern food and the Nan River, with a weekend walking street.
The feel of the place
A northern cultural town for temple murals, local markets and unhurried old-town exploring.
Nan is a small provincial capital whose old town brings temples, murals, cafés and local markets into a manageable area. Wat Phumin and the nearby museum and temple streets give a visit a clear cultural focus. The walking street adds local food and crafts on weekend evenings. A central base works for walking and cycling; hilltop temples and outings beyond town require arranged transport. The wider province is a different trip and should not be confused with a short stay in town.
Keep in mind
The town makes a compact cultural break, but remote mountain scenery needs a separate transport plan. Weekend market activity is not available every evening.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.
Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
