The feel of the place
A coastal trip built around limestone scenery, beaches and island excursions.
Krabi’s coastal holiday areas combine limestone scenery, beaches and inland attractions. Ao Nang is a useful base for boat excursions and visits to Railay, while Krabi Town offers markets and local dining. Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi and other separately listed islands are covered in their own guides.
Keep in mind
From Ao Nang, reaching Railay and Phra Nang means a boat trip. Stay on Railay for those beaches nearby, but expect boat transfers when exploring beyond the peninsula.

How to read the scale
Scores describe how strongly a destination offers each characteristic. They are editorial assessments, not visitor ratings.
Higher does not always mean better
A higher nightlife score means a livelier scene. A higher quietness score means a calmer atmosphere. The right balance depends on your trip.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.
Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
