Koh Tao

Stay near Sairee for restaurants and services, or choose a quieter cove for a slower stay.

The feel of the place

A compact island escape built around diving, bays and boat trips.

Koh Tao’s visitor scene centres on diving, snorkelling and small coastal bays. Sairee is a convenient base for restaurants and sociable evenings, while other coves suit a slower stay. Hilly roads and dispersed beaches make longer journeys less straightforward; Nang Yuan is a nearby boat excursion.

Keep in mind

The bays are separated by hills, so exploring beyond your stay area usually needs taxis, boat taxis or tours. A quieter cove can also put you farther from the main restaurants and evening scene.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.

Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
