Southern Thailand · island
Koh Kradan
White sand, reef access and a small collection of stays, with limited shops and everyday services.
The feel of the place
A small beach-and-reef island for snorkelling, slow days and a simple stay by the sea.
Koh Kradan is a small Trang island where the main beach and nearby reef shape most stays. Snorkelling, paddling and short walks provide active breaks between beach time. Accommodation ranges from basic park camping, when available, to beachfront resorts, with dining concentrated around the stays. It is a focused island escape rather than a village or shopping destination. Plan boat access, supplies and current park opening arrangements before booking.
Keep in mind
Food and services are concentrated in a small number of stays, and the mainland boat connection adds planning. Day trips can make parts of the beach busy.

Clear-water coastal views, forested slopes and offshore island silhouettes create a striking compact setting.

Evenings mostly mean resort bars and quiet beachside dining rather than a varied nightlife circuit.

Quiet mornings and overnight stays are a major attraction, while day-trip arrivals can disturb the main beach.

The compact, road-free visitor area is explored on foot, with boats for excursions and onward travel.
What we assess
Freedom to explore without renting a scooter, using walking, public transport, taxis, tuk-tuks, ride-hailing or boats; transport price is assessed separately.
Why we rate Koh Kradan 4/10
Basic stays can reduce room costs, but limited dining choice and boat access make a low-cost holiday less flexible.

How to read the scale
Scores describe how strongly a destination offers each characteristic. They are editorial assessments, not visitor ratings.
Higher does not always mean better
A higher nightlife score means a livelier scene. A higher quietness score means a calmer atmosphere. The right balance depends on your trip.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.
Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
