The feel of the place

A forested national-park escape with waterfalls, wildlife and hiking near Pak Chong.

Khao Yai is a large national park of forest, waterfalls, wildlife and walking routes, reached from the Pak Chong and Mu Si area. Stay nearby for park visits and countryside attractions, and plan transport before you arrive: public transport can reach the park entrance, while getting between sights is easier with a car, driver or guided trip. Park facilities and access can change with weather, so check current notices before travelling.

Keep in mind

The park is spread out, and reaching the entrance does not solve transport between trails and sights. Check park access and weather notices before setting out.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.

Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
