Southern Thailand · beach area

Kata

Kata Yai and Kata Noi give you two distinct beach settings within one stay area.

The feel of the place

A popular Phuket beach area with two bays, surf season and a relaxed resort feel.

Kata combines the sandy bays of Kata Yai and Kata Noi with restaurants, cafés and resort services. It suits a beach-focused Phuket stay with relaxed evening venues rather than a major club scene. Main roads and popular beach approaches can be busy, and exploring the wider island needs rides.

Keep in mind

Kata is still a developed resort area, with busy roads and popular beaches in high season. Trips to Phuket Town and other coasts need a ride, and nearby beach areas are separated by hills.

How to read the scale
Scores describe how strongly a destination offers each characteristic. They are editorial assessments, not visitor ratings.

Higher does not always mean better
A higher nightlife score means a livelier scene. A higher quietness score means a calmer atmosphere. The right balance depends on your trip.

Temperatures are historical average daytime highs, not the highest temperatures you might experience. Rainfall and rainy days are monthly averages, not a forecast. A rainy day need not mean rain all day.

Stay prices are relative to each destination’s usual rates. Holidays can bring extra crowds and higher prices. Sea conditions vary by beach and day; check local conditions before boat trips.
